AL Rusail Power Company SAOC
SMN
Power Holding Company, representing the consortium
of Suez-Tractebel SA, Mubadala Development Company
& National Trading Company LLC (Oman)
acquired the newly privatized Al Rusail
Power Company SAOC which operates the gas-fired
668MW open cycle plant. Al Rusail Power Company
is the first of several government-owned ‘successor
companies’, created as a result of the unbundling
of the power and related water sector, that will
be privatized over the coming year.
Barka II
Consortium
of Suez-Tractebel SA, Mubadala Development Company
& National Trading Company LLC (Oman)
was awarded mandate to implement an independent
Power & Water Desalination project (IWPP)
at Barka called as Barka II. The first phase with
363 MW capacity will be operational by September,
2008. The second phase with 678 MW capacity will
be operational by April, 2009.
Sohar Power Co. (SAOG)
SPC
was selected to design, build, operate and maintain
the Greenfield Sohar Independant Water and Power
project . The project consists of a 585MW combined
Cycle Gas Turbines plant and a 33 million imperial
gallons a day water desalination plant.
United Power Co. (SAOG)
The
United Power Company, formed under partnership
between prestigious business groups in Oman and
Tractabel of Belgium, has won the first BOOT (Build
Own Operate and Transfer) contract in the Middle
East in 1995
